Girl Drama in the Age of MySpace
Tuesday April 14th, 2009 @ 9:00 am
Managing Relational Aggression among Adolescent Girls in Schools. School counselors routinely deal with social conflict among their students, usually using tried-and-true methods that work well in many situations. However, even experienced counselors may find it overwhelming at time to deal with the increasing incidence of bullying and open conflict between girls, particularly when it involves modern communications technology such as texting or MySpace. This workshop addresses "girl drama," explores the developmental and sociocultural dynamics that drive it, and offers challenging school situations, share effective interventions, and identify specific types of administrative support that are essential in dealing effectively with relational aggression. $20 fee to attend training through Head to Toe 13th Annual Conference. CEUs will be offered. Presenters: Emily Moore, Ph.D., Psychologist/Consultant, Social Empowerment Programs of NM and Kathi Brown, Coordinator of the NM Girls Institute
